Background
Shinya Shokudou was nominated for the second Manga Taisho Award in 2009. In 2010, the series won the 39th Japan Cartoonist Awards Grand Prize and the 55th Shogakukan Manga Award in the General category. The series was adapted into a Japanese live-action TV drama that ran for three seasons from 2009 to 2014. A live-action film premiered on January 31, 2015. Netflix Japan later produced a fourth season and a second live-action film in 2016, and a fifth season on October 31, 2019. The manga was also adapted into a Korean TV series that aired from July 4, 2015, to September 5, 2015; and a Chinese TV series from June 12, 2017, to June 30, 2017.
