Background
Shio no Machi is the debut novel of Hiro Arikawa and the first book in the Jietai Sanbusaku Series (Self-Defense Force Trilogy). It represents "Land", while the following novels Sora no Naka and Umi no Soko represent "Sky" and "Sea", respectively. After the manga adaptation of Arikawa's Toshokan Sensou completed in LaLa in 2020, it was decided that manga artist Kiiro Yumi would also adapt all three books in the trilogy.
