Synopsis
An evil secret society called the Black Cross Army threatens world peace, and only an elite task force known as the Earth Guard League (EAGLE) can stop them. After the Black Cross Army destroys EAGLE's headquarters across Japan, only five young recruits survive. Hiding in a secret underground base, they are given enhanced battlesuits that empower them with superhuman abilities, transforming the youths into an unstoppable squad to combat evil. Background
Two different versions of Himitsu Sentai Gorenger were published simultaneously in Shounen Sunday and Shougaku Gonensei; both versions were compiled into one combined volume release, with the first chapter of both versions being merged together (later editions include both separately). While initially based on the contents of the TV show, in August 1975, both versions changed into a gag comedy following five children pretending to be the Gorenger, under the title Himitsu Sentai Shin Gorenger Gokko (ひみつ戦隊新ゴレンジャーごっこ) in Shounen Sunday, and Himitsu Sentai Gorenger Gokko (ひみつ戦隊ゴレンジャーごっこ) in Shougaku Gonensei. The series was published in English by Seven Seas Entertainment under the title Super Sentai: Himitsu Sentai Gorenger in a single volume on April 20, 2021. The Seven Seas Entertainment release only includes the original run of the Shounen Sunday and Shougaku Gonensei versions of the series, and does not include either version of the Gorenger Gokko series.
