Chikan Saresou ni Natteiru S-kyuu Bishoujo wo Tasuketara Tonari no Seki no Osananajimi datta began as a web novel on Shousetsuka ni Narou on May 21, 2019. SB Creative has released a revised version of the series with new illustrations since February 14, 2020 under its GA Bunko label. The series was published in English as The Girl I Saved on the Train Turned Out to Be My Childhood Friend by Yen Press under the Yen On imprint from November 30, 2021, to June 3, 2025.
