Akuyaku Reijou Level 99: Watashi wa Ura-Boss desu ga Maou dewa Arimasen began as a web novel on Shousetsuka ni Narou on June 15, 2018. Kadokawa has released an expanded and illustrated version of the series since May 10, 2019 under its Kadokawa Books label. The series has been published digitally in English as Villainess Level 99: I May Be the Hidden Boss but I'm Not the Demon Lord by J-Novel Club since May 29, 2023.
