Synopsis

Set in the summer of 1907, the story follows Inako Momokawa, the daughter of a sake brewer in Kyoto's Fushimi district. Often scolded by her strict father, Inako finds quiet comfort in her prayers to the gods. One day, while praying at Fushimi Inari Shrine, she meets Kihachi Sakamoto, a free-spirited boy who rejects her faith and believes the future belongs to electricity, not gods. The two don't get along at first, but when Inako's father suddenly arranges her marriage, Kihachi helps her run away. To stop the wedding, they must find The Electric Catalog—a mysterious book Kihachi wrote as a child that contains prophetic writings about electricity, which was taken by his missing brother, Seiroku. Together, they travel through Kyoto in search of the missing book, discovering both the changing world around them and a quiet love that history will never record. (Source: MAL News)
