Synopsis

Everyone has a different perception of their own appearance as well as a unique way of interpreting it. In his animated self-portrait, Osamu Tezuka depicts himself as a slot machine. After a cycle of rugged, juxtaposed expressions, Tezuka's true form emerges. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Background

Nineteen animators from five countries collaborated on a project to animate their own faces. The results were screened at various animation festivals in each of the representatives' home countries. Osamu Tezuka was one of the three Japanese animators to participate. Jigazou was shown at the Zagreb International Animation Film Festival in June 1988.
